Ispra - 22-24 March 2004

This meeting of EDEN-IW project took place at the JRC in ISPRA with installation of a new node of the prototype, public website update, demo presentations and decisions on the implementation of the EDEN-IW system (additional requirements, openGIS interface, ...). The participants were: CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, IOW, QMUL.

March 2004 : visit to EEA

A presentation of the EDEN-IW Project was made to the Head of Water Activities and other EEA representatives.

Southampton UK 12 February 2004 : visit to Ordnance Survey

Presentation of the Project Overview, the Inland Water Data Model, the Semantic Data Integration Approach, the Agents and the User Guide of the EDEN-IW project.

Rome - 2-4 December 2003

June 5th World Environment Day

World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. The theme for this year is:
Water - Two Billion People are Dying for It!
L'eau - Deux milliards de personnes en meurent d'envie!
Agua: Dos mil millones sufren sin ella!!

Brussels - March 2003

Stefan Poslad of QMUL represented EDEN-IW in the concertation meeting, Environmental Application Research Projects, which took place in Brussels on March 24th 2003.

March 22nd World Water Day

World Water Day owes its inception to the 1992 UN conference on Environment & Development (UNCED), which was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The UN General Assembly designated March 22nd as World Water Day on 22 December 1992. Annually, a UN agency is nominated to be the lead agency for the event, celebrating and promoting it worldwide, in coordination with the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC) on water. The organizer for World Water Day 2003 is United Nations Environment Programme.
It is notable that World Water day, this year, coincides with celebrations marking 2003 as the International Year of Fresh Water.

Paris - March 2003

The latest meeting of EDEN-IW project took place in Paris on the 11th - 12th of March 2003 with demo presentations and solid decisions on the implementation of the EDEN-IW system. The participants were: CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, IOW, QMUL.

Limoges - December 2002

The EDEN-IW project meeting in Limoges took place on the 10th - 12th of December 2002 with vital decisions for the next steps of the design and implementation of the project. The participants were: CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, IOW, QMUL and Greg Pitts from Ecolibrium (US).

London - October 2002

The interim EDEN-IW project meeting took place in London on the 2nd - 3rd of October 2002 with presentations and discussions on the ontology of the EDEN-IW system with the participation of CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, QMUL.

Washington DC - June 2002

The EDEN-IW project meeting in Washington DC took place on the 9th - 12th of June 2002. During this meeting there were presentations on draft designs of the EDEN-IW system with the participation of CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, IOW, QMUL, Bruce Bargmeyer (EPA/LBL), Hannu Saarenmaa and Stefan Jensen from EEA, Mike Cullen, Randy Hippen and William Sonntag from EPA.

Athens - December 2001

The EDEN-IW project meeting in Athens took place on the 6th - 8th of December 2001 and discussed initial steps on the design of EDEN-IW system. The participants in this meeting were: CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, IOW, QMUL, Bruce Bargmeyer from EPA/LBL and Greg Pitts from Ecolibrium (US).

Silkeborg - September 2001

The introductory meeting of EDEN-IW project took place in Silkeborg on the 25th - 28th of September 2001 and provided an outline of the project with its main components. In this meeting there were representatives of: CNR, ED, JRC, NERI, IOW, QMUL.
